Synopsis:

Professor Douglas Primm is no fan of horror fiction. He’s been a creative writing instructor for decades, and year after year, he sees his love for literature becoming increasingly degraded by a proliferation of genre filth.

Now a sixty-three-year-old financially unfit to retire, he’s called in to teach a writing class at Bloodworth College in the middle of the semester.

The course?: Advanced Horror Writing.

The location?: Room 301

The lecture hall is said to be cursed. Ever since Bloodworth College added Advanced Horror Writing to the syllabus three professors have gone mad reading its students’ work.

Douglas Primm, however, does not believe in curses.

His only responsibility for the next week is to read aloud the works submitted by the students in Room 301. The prompt for this writing assignment is simply “Horror Genre Tropes”. Students have been challenged to choose any trope of the horror genre and subvert it in some interesting way.

As Professor Primm reads these tales aloud, they become increasingly unhinged, as does his grip on reality, causing him to wonder whether he too may be succumbing to the dark hold of Room 301.

And perhaps the students who inhabit it…
